# Check your first site

Start with a quick check, then run a Pulse scan on the Free plan to see everything worth fixing.

## Start with a quick check

On the Lockpick home page, type your website's address and choose **Check my site**. In about 10 seconds you get a score out of 100 for your homepage and the first things worth fixing.

You don't need an account for this. The quick check sends at most 6 requests to your site and looks at your homepage only. It does not read other pages, files, APIs or anything behind a sign-in.

> **Careful**
>
> Only check sites you own or are allowed to test. Lockpick asks you to
> confirm this before every scan.

## Get the full scan free

From the quick check result, choose **Get the full scan free**. This runs a Pulse scan, which looks further than the quick check and usually takes under 15 seconds.

1. Create an account with your email and a password, or sign in with Google or GitHub.
2. Set up in four short steps: **Your site**, where you confirm you own it or are allowed to test it; **About you**, your role; **Why you're here**; and **Ownership**, proof that the site is yours. The last two are optional.
3. Accept the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy when you're asked. Everything else is optional.

When the scan finishes, you land on your site's page with a grade and a list of things to fix. [Read your report](/docs/get-started/read-your-report) explains every part of it.

## What the Free plan includes

* 5 Pulse scans a month, counted by calendar month in UTC.
* 1 site at a time. To switch, remove it from **Sites**. Its reports stay, but scans you already used this month don't come back.
* No Deep scans. Deep comes with the Deep plan.
* **Check again** and auto-checks count as scans. A scan that fails doesn't.
